What small jobs cost

Real numbers, before you pick up the phone. These are the point prices from our actual rate card - the same one the quote tool uses.

How the minimum works, plainly. One socket is a £90 point, but a visit costs £150, so one socket on its own is £150. Two sockets and a light in the same visit is where it starts paying for itself. There is no VAT to add to any of it.

Jobs we do every week

• Extra sockets - behind the telly, in the loft conversion, in the garage, or the one you have been running an extension lead to for three years
• Light fittings and switches - swapping a fitting, adding a light, fixing a switch that buzzes or needs pushing twice
• Extractor fans - the bathroom fan that stopped, or a humidity-sensing one to deal with damp and black mould round the window
• Outdoor sockets and lights - garden power, a proper weatherproof socket, security lighting, shed and garage supplies
• Smoke and heat alarms - mains-wired and interlinked, which is what landlords need and what insurers prefer

Batch them and save

The single best tip for small electrical work: write a list. Because the first hour is covered by the minimum visit, jobs three and four cost you far less per job than job one on its own.

• Walk round the house first. Note every socket you wish existed, every light that annoys you, every switch that sticks
• Send us the list. A photo of a scribbled note on WhatsApp is perfect. We price the whole lot in writing
• One visit, one price, one invoice. Everything ticked off in a single trip

Why most electricians ignore you

Ring round for a single socket and you will get voicemail, or a quote that makes no sense. Here is why, and why we work differently.

• Small jobs pay less than big ones. Most one-man firms chase the rewire and let the small stuff ring out. Yours is not worth their morning
• Or you get a vague hourly rate. No number up front, a meter running, and an invoice you cannot argue with afterwards
• Or a call-out fee on top. A fee to turn up, then the work priced separately

We do the opposite, on purpose:

• The price is fixed and it is public. It is on this page and in the quote tool. Nothing is invented on your doorstep
• The minimum visit IS the call-out. No fee stacked on top, and no VAT to add
• Saturdays at normal rates. No weekend premium, so you do not need a day off work
• One named electrician. Pete, based in Poole. Same person on the phone, on the job and on the paperwork
• Everything certified. Small job, same standards, proper paperwork where the work needs it

Honestly? Small jobs are how we meet most of our rewire customers. Do a good job on your socket today and you will call us when the whole house needs doing. That is the entire business plan.

What happens when we visit

1. You send the list. Phone, WhatsApp or the quote tool - whichever is easiest
2. We price it in writing. Before we come out, so there is no doorstep surprise
3. We turn up when we said. If something changes, you get a call, not silence
4. We tidy up. Dust sheets, no mess left behind, and we take the packaging with us
5. You get the paperwork. Certification where the work needs it, emailed over

If the job turns out to need more time than the hour, we tell you on the spot and agree it before carrying on. We never keep working and hand you a bigger bill at the end.
