How the job runs, stage by stage
Every plot follows the same clear path. All standard, all to the current wiring regulations. Here is exactly what happens and when.
- Planning and design. We get involved early, from the design stage. We help you set out every circuit to your plot drawings - where the sockets, lights, data points and EV points go - so first fix runs to a clear plan, with nothing missed while the walls are open.
- First fix. This is the big one, and it happens before the plasterers arrive. We run all the cabling and fit the back boxes. Where the cables need extra protection, we add capping or containment (the channel, trunking or conduit that shields the cable) - it is not always required, for example behind dot-and-dab plasterboard. Every run is set out to the drawings while the walls and floors are still open. Book us in ahead of plastering - this stage sets your programme.
- Second fix. Once the walls are done, we fit the consumer unit (the fuse board), all the accessories - sockets, switches, data points - and the lighting, then fit off and make live.
- Testing and inspection. We test and inspect the whole installation to BS7671, the 18th Edition wiring regulations, so every circuit is proven safe before handover.
- Certificate and handover. You get an Electrical Installation Certificate (EIC) for the plot, and we notify Building Control for the notifiable work. The plot is ready to hand over.

The critical stage is first fix, before the plasterers arrive. All the cabling and back boxes go in while the walls and floors are open, with capping or containment added only where the cables need protecting, so getting us booked in ahead of plastering keeps your programme moving.
Do you wire smart homes, data, EV and PV?
Yes. We fit CAT6 data backbones and networking points, smart lighting, EV-ready charge points, PV-ready solar supplies, MVHR wiring, heat-pump wiring and external or outbuilding power. Tell us the spec and we will wire it in from first fix.
Roughly how long does a single plot take?
It depends on the size and spec of the home and where it sits in the overall build programme, since our stages slot around the other trades. Give Pete the drawings and programme and he will give you a realistic timeline for first fix, second fix and certification.
Do you accept retention?
Yes. We accept JCT-style 2.5% retention released 12 months after practical completion, agreed in writing at quote stage.
